A Magical Birthday Party at the Venue
This past weekend, we hosted a very special private birthday party at the venue, and for one afternoon, the space was completely transformed into a Harry Potter world for a group of excited 10 year olds and their families.
From the moment guests arrived, they didn’t just walk into a party, they entered through Platform 9 ¾. The front door was wrapped in a brick backdrop with a 9 ¾ sign, and a stack of luggage at the entrance set the scene for what was to come.
Each child was sorted into their house at the entry table and given a black cape and a house tie before beginning their experience. Watching their reactions during sorting was easily one of the sweetest moments of the day.
An Interactive Experience From the Start
Instead of jumping straight into games, the children first stopped by the wand shop where they made their own wands using dowels, pipe cleaners, and brown duct tape. This small detail gave them something hands-on and immediately pulled them into the theme.
The center of the floor was intentionally left open for activities, while different themed stations were set up around the room. A tabletop Quidditch game became an instant favorite, played with ping pong balls in a fun, kid-friendly format that kept everyone engaged.
The Triwizard Tournament (Kid Edition)
The highlight of the afternoon was the Triwizard Tournament, which included a series of themed challenges designed for this age group.
We had:
Tabletop Quidditch
A Dragon Egg race using jelly beans and chopsticks
Dobby Sock Toss
Escape the Dementor, a high-energy sharks and minnows style soccer game mixed with freeze tag and spells
The mix of active and tabletop games kept the energy balanced and gave every child a chance to participate without feeling overwhelmed.
A Themed Snack Table That Matched the Magic
The food table along the back wall was fully themed and designed to be fun, playful, and recognizable to the kids. The menu included Slytherin Subs, Black Lake Jello, Mandrake Dirt Cake, Professor Sprout’s Garden, Dragon Scales, Raven Claws, and Dragon Smoke Smokies.
For drinks, Butter Beer Floats and Poly Juice Potion lemonade were an absolute hit and quickly became one of the most talked about parts of the party.
Thoughtful Layout for a Smooth Party Flow
A long dining table allowed the kids to gather together between games, while a Hogwarts backdrop with a balloon arch created a dedicated photo area in the corner of the venue. The sorting hat and themed decor tied everything together without making the space feel overcrowded.
With natural daylight filling the room during the 2 to 4 pm timeframe, the atmosphere felt bright, energetic, and perfectly suited for a daytime celebration.
